Dr. Usha Sambamoorthi is a professor and Associate Dean of Health Outcomes at the College of Pharmacy, UNTHSC.  She has over 35 years of investigative experience in health services, outcomes, and disparities research, with over 275 publications cited in PubMed.  She is among the few scientists to examine the intersectionality of health outcomes, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), health disparities, and health equity research.  Dr. Sambamoorthi has received funding from federal agencies such as AHRQ, NIH, VHA HSR&D, private foundations, and commercial corporations to support her research.  She is one of the MPIs of the NIH AIM-AHEAD program to promote AI/ML in underrepresented communities.  Dr. Sambamoorthi is called “mentor extraordinaire” by her mentees and has received many outstanding national mentoring awards.
