Kristie Chin is Director of Civic Innovation at the University of Texas at Austin Center for Transportation Research. She leads an interdisciplinary team who manage a portfolio of smart city projects for the Texas Department of Transportation and other Texas transportation agencies. She co-founded the Texas Innovation Alliance, a network of cities, transportation agencies, and research institutions who are collaborating to tackle the state's most pressing challenges - safety, congestion, and accessibility. She specializes in stakeholder engagement and strategic planning for emerging transportation technologies, particularly connected and automated vehicles. Previously, she worked at the City of South Bend, Indiana as a Performance Improvement Analyst. She earned her PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and her Master's of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame. She began her academic career with dual degrees in Civil Engineering and Architectural Studies from Brown University.
