Dr. Engin Bozdag is a sr. staff privacy engineer at Uber and leads the privacy architecture team. Engin's team reviews new engineering designs from a privacy angle and recommends technical solutions to get privacy embedded into design. Prior to joining Uber, Engin was a privacy architect at the Dutch healthcare giant Royal Philips and a PhD researcher focusing on AI ethics. He published one of the first and most popular academic articles on algorithmic bias. Engin is also affiliated with 4TU Centre for Ethics and Technology, one of the leading technology ethics institutes in the world. Engin was also a co-author of ISO/PC 31700, the world's first privacy-by-design standard.
